Scott Wiles
​​Scott Wiles is the co-owner, club manager, and Director of Tennis at North Canton Racquet Club (NCRC). A USPTA certified professional, Scott has been a cornerstone of the NCRC teaching staff since graduating college in 1998. His tennis journey began with a bang when he became the Division 1 State High School Singles champion in 1994. He then took his talent to The Ohio State University, where he was a four-year letter winner and served as the team captain during his senior year. Scott’s passion for the game and leadership continue to shape the vibrant tennis community at NCRC.

Andy Wiles
Andy Wiles is co-owner of North Canton Racquet Club and founded NCRC in 1982.  He has been teaching both juniors and adults at NCRC ever since.  He was the Division 1 State High School Runner-up in singles his senior year at Mansfield St. Peter’s High School and played four years of tennis at Northern Illinois University.  He has been inducted into the Richland County Hall of Fame as well as the Stark County Tennis Hall of Fame.

Bill Willing
Bill Willing has been on the teaching staff at North Canton Racquet Club since 1990, providing lessons to players of all levels, from beginners to State Championship-level athletes. He has been USPTA certified since 1990 and has held positions such as Director of Tennis, Head Pro, and department manager at Congress Lake Club for nearly 10 years. Bill played high school tennis at Massillon High School, where he was one of the winningest players in the school's history and went on to play at the University of Akron. He competed in the USTA Men's Circuit, achieving the rank of #3 in Northeast Ohio and as high as #11 in the Midwest section of the U.S. Bill has won two State Championships in USTA competition and continues to enjoy coaching students of all levels.

​Tom Pukys
 A graduate of Perry High School, Tom distinguished himself as a state qualifier in tennis. He continued his athletic and academic journey at Malone College, where he earned First Team All-American honors. He has been inducted into both Perry High School's and Malone College's Hall of Fame.
Tom's connection to the North Canton Racquet Club is a special one. He grew up playing tennis at the club when it was first opened by the Wiles family and even worked his first job there, managing the front desk and maintaining the courts. Over the years, Tom's teaching career has included stints at the former Bran Haven Tennis Club, Shady Hollow Country Club, and as the Head Pro at Congress Lake Country Club. He also spent four seasons helping coach the Louisville boys' and girls' tennis teams.
Now, 40 years later, Tom returns to the North Canton Racquet Club, bringing with him decades of experience and a deep commitment to the sport.  He is excited to share his love for tennis with a new generation of players and to give back to the community that played a pivotal role in his own tennis journey.

Chris Porter
Chris Porter has been a dedicated member of the teaching staff at North Canton Racquet Club since 2002. As a junior player, Chris was a standout, earning top 10 national rankings in both the Boys 16 & under and Boys 18 & under divisions. He excelled at Jackson High School before taking his talents to The Ohio State University, where he played #1 singles for four consecutive years. During his college career, Chris achieved an impressive top 50 national ranking in singles and top 10 in doubles, and was named to the prestigious All Big-Ten First Team for three straight years.

Currently, Chris channels his passion for the game as the head coach of Boys and Girls Tennis at Glenoak High School, where he continues to inspire the next generation of athletes. His expertise and leadership make him a beloved figure in the tennis community.

Ernie Fernandez
Ernie Fernandez has been an integral part of the North Canton Racquet Club teaching staff since 2009. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Ernie’s tennis journey took off when he represented Puerto Rico in the 1979 Pan-American Games, proudly bringing home a bronze medal. His talent carried him to The Ohio State University, where he shined as an NCAA singles semi-finalist and earned All-American honors in 1980.

Following college, Ernie competed on the ATP tour, reaching an impressive career-high ranking of #36 in the world in doubles. His exceptional achievements have earned him induction into both The Ohio State University Athletic Hall of Fame and The Puerto Rican Tennis Hall of Fame. A USPTA certified professional, Ernie also serves as the Director of Tennis at Glenmoor Country Club during the summer, continuing to share his wealth of knowledge and passion for the game.

Barb Deattie
Barb Beattie
Barb Beattie has been on the teaching staff at North Canton Racquet Club since 2013.  Barb played her college tennis at the University of South Florida.  After college, Barb continued her tennis career for several years on the Women’s Professional Tour.  Barb has been teaching tennis for over 30 years to both juniors and adults.  She is a USPTA certified professional and is the Director of Tennis at Portage Country Club in the summer.
